Liver SAB - Hepatic Clinical Medicine

Steve A. Weinman, M.D., Ph.D., SAB Chairman. Newly appointed as Director of Hepatobiliary Research of the GI Division in the Department of Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center and Director of Clinical-Translational Research for the University of Kansas Liver Center. His research concentrates on hepatic injury, oxidative stress, Hepatitis C, mitochondrial injury and clinical practice.
 
Craig McClain, M.D. Professor of Medicine and a Distinguished Scholar at the University of Louisville, where he directs the Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute and serves as PI on the Clinical and Translational Science Award planning grant. He is also Associate Vice President for Research and holds a graduate faculty appointment in Pharmacology and Toxicology. His interests include ASH, cytokines, nutrition and Hepatitis C.
 
Timothy R. Morgan, M.D. Chief of Hepatology at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. His interests include oxidative stress, ASH, Hepatitis C treatments and clinical trials.
 
Arun J. Sanyal, M.D. Professor of Medicine and Chairman, Division of Gastroenterology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Sanyal also serves as Chairman of the NIH NASH Clinical Research Network. His research interests include NAFLD, NASH, animal models of NASH, TIPS, fibrosis, Hepatitis C treatments and NASH clinical trials.
 
Detlef Schuppan, M.D., Ph.D. Attending Hepatologist and Director of the Liver and Celiac Disease Research Centers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. His interests include fibrosis, novel treatments and diagnostics, celiac disease and oxidative stress in liver disease.
 
Ronald J. Sokol, M.D. Professor and Vice Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC). His interests include NALFD, mitochondria and oxidative stress, liver failure and biliary atresia.
